Happy first day of spring everyone! I seriously can’t believe how fast this year seems to be flying by, I feel like winter lasted like 5 seconds! I’m still feeling a little under the weather today after a flu-filled weekend, but I wanted to share with y’all one of my new favorite spring staples along with some tips on how to rock it.
So I’m going to be honest, I never really thought that I could pull off the whole boyfriend jean look. I’d always see tall, slender girls rocking them flawlessly and I’d envy them for their confidence and grace, but I had always thought that they would look ridiculous on my small frame. I’m about 5’2 and while I wouldn’t necessarily call my legs short and stumpy, they also aren’t particular long and slender either so I always thought that the loose, distressed jean look would just make my legs appear even shorter.
Anyway, despite my hesitations, I was determined to make them work for me this season and I’m officially in love! I must confess however, that I did slightly cheat: I opted for a pair of “girlfriend” jeans to ease me into the trend which I highly recommend for anyone unsure of the style but still wanting to try it. They’re slightly more fitted, but still maintain the same distressed, relaxed look that boyfriend jeans are so well known for. Seriously guys, I love them!
These ultra comfy yet super chic jeans, are so versatile and can easily be dressed up or down depending on the occasion. If you’re still feeling a little iffy about the look, here are a few quick tips that have helped me overcome my irrational fear of drowning in my boyfriend (or girlfriend) jeans (I know, I’m so dramatic):
- If you’re on the shorter side like me, try pairing them with heels or wedges. I initially tried them with flat strappy sandals but I just couldn’t stand how short they made my legs look. Trust me, a shoe with a little height makes a huge difference!
- If you’re smaller framed, again, like me, I highly recommend starting with a pair of girlfriend jeans like I mentioned above. It’s still essentially the same exact look, they just fit slightly better which really helps for us petite chicks.
- I love these jeans with a cute relaxed tee, but if you’re afraid of looking a little too frumpy, consider paring them with a body suit or a snug tucked-in tank top. This will help accentuate your curves a little more and give you a little more shape up top.
- Is the look a little too relaxed for you? Try dressing them up a bit with a structured jacket or blazer and a pair of cute pumps. This will instantly take your boyfriend jeans from day to night and makes for a super chic look for happy hour or date night.
Alright guys, so there’s my little shpeal on my new found love for loose, relaxed jeans and how anyone can easily rock the look. Below, I’ve linked a few different pairs of boyfriend and girlfriend jeans that I’m loving, as well as my outfit details in the pictures above. Thanks for reading guys, and happy Monday!
