I’ll be the first to say that up until just about a year ago, I really never had a set “skincare regimen” nor did I even take great care of my skin (I know that’s bad, but I’m just being real!). Honestly, I was one of the lucky ones who always had relatively clear skin and didn’t go through the intense acne phase as a teenager. Now don’t get me wrong, I’m not some pimple-invincible super-human, I do get them from time to time, I just don’t really get full on breakouts and because of this, I never thought there was much of an incentive to do anything more than the bare minimum (wash, rinse, moisturize, repeat).
Anyway, now that I’m a quarter century old (eek!), I realize that it’s just a matter of time before I start to get those pesky fine lines and wrinkles and my future self will most definitely thank my naïve twenty-something self for investing in my skin now. By the way, I know I’m being dramatic—the fine lines and wrinkles are probably many years away—but it’s never too early to prepare for the future and maintaining a healthy skincare regimen is just a good habit to have anyway! Having said that, I wanted to share a few of my absolute favorite skincare products that have made their way into my beauty routine and tell you a little bit about why I absolutely love them!
1.) St. Ives Blackhead Clearing Green Tea Scrub– $3.64 at Target or Walgreens
This stuff is my absolute favorite facial cleanser guys! Not only is it outrageously cheap, but its gentle enough for everyday use and the green tea infused formula is so refreshing! My skin always feels super clean and smooth after using it and it isn’t overly drying like a lot of exfoliating cleansers I’ve tried. Seriously, if you’re looking for an affordable but totally top-notch face wash, I highly recommend this one!
2.) Mario Badescu Enzyme Revitalizing Mask– $18 at Ulta or Nordstrom
Before trying this product, I was never really into the whole facemask craze (mainly because I’m kind of lazy when it comes to stuff like this—I even dread having to paint my own nails). Recently however, my coworker and I were talking about how she loves doing facemasks because they make her feel pampered and refreshed so I thought why not give it a try? After a little research, I came across this magical stuff and let me tell you, I AM HOOKED! I now actually find myself looking forward to facial night (who am I??). This mask has a luxuriously thick formula (a tiny little bit goes a long way, so it also lasts forever!) and leaves your skin glowing, dewy, and soft immediately after rinsing it. By far the best mask I’ve ever tried (I don’t have much to compare to, but still) and definitely worth the money!
3.) L’Oreal Derma Expertise Advanced Revitalift Night Cream– $17.99 at Target and Ulta
There’s very few things I love more than a good night cream. There’s just something so satisfying about slathering on a thick layer of moisturizing goodness before crawling into bed at night and this stuff definitely does the job. The formula itself is super thick, but it doesn’t feel overly heavy when applied, which I love, plus a little goes a long way so the container lasts forever!
4.) St. Tropez Gradual Tan Classic Everyday Body Lotion– $22.50-$25 at Ulta or Nordstrom
So this product isn’t a face product, but it still technically falls under the skincare category so I’m including it. This is one of my favorite gradual tanning lotions for a faux tan and one of the very few that I’ve actually been able to notice results from. I love this stuff for a little year-around color because not only does it create a nice subtle bronzy glow, but its also ridiculously moisturizing, which is great for me because my skin tends to be on the dryer side most of the time. Just for reference, I’m currently using the light-medium one because this past winter left me super pasty, but I’m thinking of switching to the medium-dark now that I’ve built up a little base color.
5.) Eau Thermale Avene Cold Cream Lip Cream (I know the word cream is written twice but this is actually what its called lol)- $16 on Amazon
Honestly, I’m not entirely sure if this really qualifies as a “skincare” product, but it’s kind of a newer obsession of mine and I just had to share! One thing I’ve always struggled with is chapped lips. I’ve tried millions of chapsticks but my naturally dry lips always prevail and I’ve always been super self conscious about them. I’ve been using this lip cream for about a month now and I am in awe over the results. There hasn’t been a SINGLE day where I’ve noticed that my lips are chapped and I can now wear matte lipstick without worrying about flakes and cracks (was always such a struggle for me). I seriously went from applying chapstick practically every damn hour my entire life to hardly needing any all day long—literally life changing! I know people who use this throughout the day in place of their everyday chapstick but I prefer to slather a thick layer of it on at night before I go to sleep and let it do it’s magic while I snooze (mainly because it has a fairly heavy consistency so it’s a little much for day time use, at least for me). I know it’s on the pricier side if we’re talking chapstick’s but seriously guys, two words: TRY. IT. You will not regret it! (haha sorry, I’m done now. Btw, this is not a sponsored post, I’m just obsessed).
Alright y’all so that’s my little spiel about my favorite skinvestments (was actually a bit longer than I intended—oops) and I’ve linked them below as well as above! Thanks for reading and if anyone wants to share any of their fave skincare products with me, I’d love to hear! Hope everyone has a happy Friday and a great weekend ahead!
