Anyone who knows me, knows that I am an absolute Wine-O and a lover of a great bargain. My favorite thing to do after a long day of work is to come home, pour myself a glass of wine, whip up a nice dinner, and settle down on the couch with the hubby for some trashy TV and good conversation before calling it a night.
I’m an avid Trader Joes shopper and in my opinion, they have an excellent wine selection and a huge variety of options for bargain shoppers like me. Many people think that when it comes to wine, the higher the price the better it is, but I personally don’t find that to be true—some of the best wines I’ve had have been on the more affordable side and every single one of my favorites are under $10! Now I’ll admit, I am by no means a wine snob so there are many who may disagree with my selections, but I wanted to share with you guys four of my go-to wines for hosting, entertaining, girls nights, date nights, and everything in between. All absolutely delicious, all under $10, and all available at Trader Joes!
Grifone Sangiovese $3.99 (Exclusively at Trader Joes)
This is one of my all time favorites, especially for the price. It’s simple and light with a very subtle sweetness and hints of black cherry and cranberry. Sangiovese’s are pretty similar to Chianti’s and I find this one to be the perfect compliment to just about any dish or desert, it’s so versatile and delicious!
Spiral Cellars Chardonnay $7.99 (Exclusively at Trader Joes)
So, I’m much more of a red wine lover, but I do appreciate a good chardonnay from time to time and this one is really good and extremely affordable. One thing I don’t tend to be a big fan of when it comes to white wines is they’re either too sweet or too acidic, but this one is a perfect, full-bodied, balance with small hints of oaky flavor, which makes it slightly reminiscent of a red wine (probably why I like it). Dustin doesn’t like white wine AT ALL, but actually enjoys this one!
Menage a Trios—California Red Wine $7.99 (Available at Trader Joes, Bevmo, most grocery stores, convenience stores, etc.) Note: Price listed is based on the Trader Joes price. Cost may vary depending on retailer.
I’m sure you’ve seen this one before because it’s sold at many different grocery stores, but it’s a red blend and is actually really good and a total bargain! Red blends tend to be a little boring and blah for me, but this one is full bodied with a hint of fruity flavor and pairs really well with red meats and dark chocolate!
Black Mountain Vineyard Fat Cat Cabernet Sauvignon $5.99 (Exclusively at Trader Joes)
We tried this wine recently during one of our wine tasting from home date nights and loved it! I’m usually a big fan of a good cab and this one did not disappoint. It’s full bodied, velvety, and fruity, with a touch of vanilla and coconut. A glass of this with a good sharp cheddar cheese, and you’ve got yourself a match made in heaven!
